INTERCESSION CITY FLORIDA 33848 [email protected]. MANUFACTURER: CHECKMATE® COMMANDER®. When i bought my car it came with this alarm. I know nothing about this alarm accept its made by Checkmate, here is a of the remote. And there are stickers on the windows that say checkmate, and same with the siren under the hood. I followed the wires, found a little on/off switch under the dash, its not a kill switch, but i can't see anything else the wires lead above the fuse box. The remote also controls the power door locks. When you hit the left button the doors lock, hit it again the doors unlock. The right button doesn't seem to do anything. The problem is sometimes the alarm arms itself (makes a single tone of the siren) when you lock the doors with the remote, and sometimes it doesn't. And it disarms with the same button again (with a double tone) and unlocking the doors. It worked when i bought it i stopped working that night, and its worked sporadically since then. Any chance its just a loose wire or something? Or is it something with some feature of the alarm. It seems like there is something i'm doing to disable the alarm. ![]() I've searched google and can't find anything, but one place selling replacement remotes. Judging by the condition of the remote, i'm guessing this system is somewhat old but anyone have any ideas on what to try? I've tried every combination of buttons, and i can't figure out why sometimes the alarm arms and sometimes it doesn't. Well, its not a 'loose wire' (why do people always immediately assume this?), its not like the wire is magically loose and then not. First off, the switch is not a 'kill switch', its going to be the valet switch. Second, chances are this is 100% a training issue on learning how to use the alarm. But being that 'checkmate' isn't one of the more well known names, i'd say you're pretty much screwed on finding any 'official' help. ![]() Might wanna search google for 'checkmate car alarm', or hit some autosound/security specific sites/forums (the12volt.com, sounddomain.com).
